Most trucks these days are considered to be pretty long-lasting if they can tick off roughly 200,000 miles over their usable lives, and that's at the upper end of the range for most. But to Toyota, 200,000 miles is a pittance, as it just announced that it had accepted a trade-in of a 2007 Toyota Tundra with over one million miles on it.

Owned by Louisiana native Victor Sheppard, who drove it an average 125,000 miles a year for work, this Tundra saw a lot of action over the nine years it was on the road…and it's still running. This Tundra is practically the vehicular equivalent of the Energizer Bunny, it just keeps going, and going, and going! Of course, there's no secret as to how this truck demonstrates such surprising longevity, just good old-fashioned Toyota engineering and maintenance. Sheppard took his Tundra to his local Toyota dealership service center roughly 117 times over its lifespan, where trained Toyota technicians serviced it with authentic Toyota parts.
This week, Toyota offered to trade for this venerable vehicle and Sheppard graciously accepted. Toyota took the 2007 Tundra, which its engineers will study to manufacture long-lasting trucks like it in the future, and Sheppard got a brand-new 2016 Tundra, which will be the 16th Tundra he's ever owned.
