What Kind of Engine is Used in the Toyota Highlander?

Toyota’s mid-size SUV — the Highlander — comes in three trims: LE, SE, and Limited. While the base level LE comes with a smaller engine, you can opt for the larger engine as all engine compartments are the same size. Every Highlander trim comes in a Front-Wheel-Drive or a Four-Wheel-Drive model.

The standard engine for the Highlander LS trim is a 2.7 Liter 4-cylinder engine with a double-overhead cam. The engine generates 185-horsepower and 184-lb.-ft of torque. The 16-valve engine gets 20 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. Both the SE and Limited trims use the larger V-6 engine, a 3.5-Liter double overhead cam powerhouse with 24-valve technology. The larger engine develops 295-horsepower with 269 lb.-ft. torque. The V-6 engine gets 21 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.

At Classic Toyota Galveston, we proudly display all three trims of the Toyota Highlander for your shopping convenience.
